Sarah for Model Number GDT655SGJWW My dishwasher suddenly stopped draining, leaving standing water in the bottom of the tub at the end of a cycle. No clogs can be found in the filters/drain hose/garbage disposal. I removed the drain pump- the impeller moves freely and a tested with a multimeter and it checked out ok. I can hear the pump trying to run, but no water makes it into the drain hose. Could the issue still be the pump, or is it more likely to be something else?
Answer Sarah, a couple of things come to mind, when you took the drain pump motor out, the impeller should have had a slight resistance when turning the impeller by hand, if it does not, the impeller is stripped and the pump would need to be replaced. When you hear the motor come on but not pump any water out, that means there is power at the pump, either the impeller is bad or there is some restriction in the hose between the pump and the house plumbing.
