Andrew, We would need to have the correct model number of your dishwasher to assist properly with your question. It would be recommended though to check to see if there is power getting to the water valve. If there is not then the control board may be the issue and if there is then the water valve will be faulty and in need of replacement.

John, It is recommended to test to see if there is 120 Vac getting to the drain pump when the unit is supposed to drain. If there is not voltage then the control board will be the issue.

Patrick, most dishwashers, if not run on a daily basis will start to put off an odor. There is always some water in the bottom of the sump assembly that will sour if not rinsed out. I would not replace the sump assembly just yet. Get a dishwasher tub cleaner and use it to freshen up the tub and sump. Using the dishwasher on a daily basis will also help.

Wind for Model Number GDT580SGF5WW

My wife was preparing her potted flowers for the winter and had placed a load of pots (flower) into the dishwasher without rinsing off the dirt. We are now experiencing a noise when the washer is draining. My first thought was the grains of sand/dirt have entered the pump..not the pump that pumps water through the sprayers because it is normal in that mode but when the washer first start up there seems to be a pump operation that purges the system (drains it ) it appears to have a short cycle and the noise is quite apparent, then it goes into the normal wash cycles and the sound is normal..it starts the noise again at the final draining cycle just prior to the wash ending . I am looking for some help as to where and what parts l should be looking at. Will a cleaning resolve the issue or am l looking at a replacement part. I have cleaned all the tub portion..baskets, rails, filter and that is now spotless l will be removing the unit tomorrow from under the counter and need some idea as to where l should focus my search to resolve the issue. Thanks in advance!

Wind, the drain pump section would need to be inspected as it is very likely that dirt debris has collected at the impeller and shaft of the drain pump WD19X25187. Thoroughly cleaning this section should provide a solution as long as the debris did not damage the seal in the drain pump assembly.
