Answer Larry, Yes the "check ball" belongs in the bottom of the tube in the Sump, not the bottom of the sump. It does rise and fall in the tube, between the sump and the "fine filter" under the lower spray arm. " Ensure that the check ball is clean and not blocked. It should move up and down freely.
