This dishwasher sump inlet forms the sealed passage between the tub and the pump system, directing wash water out of the basin. Replacing a cracked or clogged inlet helps stop leaks and restores steady water circulation and cleaning performance.

  • Channels water from the tub into the circulation/drain system
  • Maintains a watertight seal at the tub floor to prevent leaks and air intrusion
  • Helps preserve spray pressure and consistent wash performance
  • Common symptoms of failure: water leaking under the unit, weak cleaning results, unusual pump noise, visible cracks or warping
What's included: 1 sump inlet Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and water supply; wear cut-resistant gloves and place a towel or shallow pan to catch residual water
  • Access may require removing the lower spray arm, filters, and toe panel; note hose/clamp orientation before removal
  • Clean sealing surfaces before seating the new inlet; secure per model design and ensure all connections are tight
  • Reassemble and run a short test cycle while inspecting for leaks

Hello George. Disconnect water, electric and drain line. Then remove dishwasher from cabinet. Remove the sump inlet cover. Gain access to the bottom of the dishwasher. Remove two hose clamps from the sump. Remove the old sump. Clean the area. Insert the new sump and set it in place. Reinstall the hose clamps. Reinstall the sump inlet cover. Reinstall the dishwasher and test for leaks.

Hello George, You can try putting some liquid soap around the sump seal to get it in flat but it will pop out as easily as it pops in so you may need someone to hold it down while you install the retainers.

Larry, Yes the "check ball" belongs in the bottom of the tube in the Sump, not the bottom of the sump. It does rise and fall in the tube, between the sump and the "fine filter" under the lower spray arm. " Ensure that the check ball is clean and not blocked. It should move up and down freely. The check ball will not seat and the dishwasher will not drain."

Mom Needs Help for Model Number GSD4000N10WW

Hi- Our GE dishwasher will not drain. The drain line is not clogged and the solenoid is operational. I removed the sump cover and sump retainer to check for an obstruction. There was nothing, but I did notice the sump inlet is deteriorating. The "pipe"mthat goes up to the arm is cracking (the piece with the check ball inside). Will the cracks keep the ball from moving correctly? Will that prevent the dishwasher from draining? If so, should I only replace the sump inlet or are there other parts that need replaced at the same time? Thanks!!

MNH, Are you sure the inlet tube is cracked, and not a deposit that has built up on the housing ? But yes, if the check ball does not float up to the coupler, it could cause a drain issue "assure that the check ball will seat properly when the drain cycle is performed. If the collection chamber is not alligned properly, the check ball will not seat and the dishwasher will not drain. Note: After installing the collection chamber, drop the check ball into the sump tube from inside the tub before installing the fine filter."

John for Model Number GHDA350N00WW

If you could help, my Hotpoint Dishwasher isn't draining... washes, fills, etc. Purchased a drain solenoid from you, after first attempt at troublshooting, that isn't the problem. The Flapper in the pump housing AP2039468 has the little black insert. Checking the sump, AP4300603 I see the little ball AP5645087 is way down at the bottom on the side closest to the motor. I'm assuming, the motor is okay, since it sprays, the impeller spins with the motor shaft... that must be okay, the flapper in the pump housing is a little stiff, but is being activated by the solenoid... so, does that leave the ball out of place? The q/a I looked at for the part mentions right/left orientation of the ball, but I'm not sure of inlet or where it goes. Thanks!

Hello John. Check and make sure the hose is not clogged and if not, replace the motor. The ball does not affect it.
