Joseph for Model Number LG LFX28978ST / 04

Hello, My ice maker stopped making ice. The cube tray got twisted and stuck. I can not find a replacement for only the ice cube tray. So it seems that I have to replace the whole ice maker. I can not seem to tell exactly which ice maker I need. The ice maker that comes in a search for my refrigerator has 14 ice cube tray. My original ice maker has a 12 cube tray. Does the 14 cube tray work and just make smaller cubes or am I not finding the correct replacement? Also I have the 6 wire connector. I see in posts that you have to identify number of wires to get the correct wiring harness. Thanks Joe

Answer

Joesph, The part number for the ice maker on your unit will be AEQ73110203 and will be 14 cubes which just means the cubes will be a little smaller but will come through the dispenser better. As for the wiring. You will have to remove the housing that holds the auger motor in order to replace the ice maker. The plug-in for the ice maker will be located behind that cover and not on the icemaker head itself.
