Manufacturer Part Number: AHL72914402

The Rotor Assembly is an OEM part for LG washing machines. This component is critical for the proper functioning of the washer's motor, helping to rotate the drum during the wash and spin cycles. It works in conjunction with the stator to generate the necessary magnetic fields for drum rotation.

Causes of a bad rotor assembly can include excessive wear over time, exposure to heavy loads, or physical damage due to mishandling. A malfunctioning rotor assembly can hinder the washer’s ability to spin and agitate effectively.

Symptoms of a bad rotor assembly include:

  • The drum not spinning or agitating properly
  • Unusual noises such as grinding or clunking during operation
  • Error codes related to motor issues displayed on the control panel
  • The washer not completing wash cycles correctly

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore models.

Mariola for Model Number Washer LG WM2701HV

Hi! For about 2 weeks I have been struggling with the usual washing machine repair. technicians (there were two of them) after 6 visits were still unable to repair. the problem is still not turning the drum and a strange sound ( grinding noises) So far, they have "exchanged" the rotor assembly and the screw that supports the entire rotor. After installation, everything worked until the second washing ... after ... the problem repeated ... my husband, after thinking, decided to look in person and we noticed that the Rotor part inside teeth of the outer one, which in the middle of the rotor is completely worn out ... is it possible after one use?... or they used old parts?Thank You!

Answer

Mariola, It is highly unlikely that after one use the teeth are that worn. It is possible that the bolt holding the rotor in place had previously backed off and damaged the teeth. You really need to make sure that the teeth on the shaft are not damaged also as that would mean you would need to replace the spider assembly. If that bolt has backed off again and thats what is causing the noise, by all means, feel free to use some blue Loctite. Also reach inside the unit and make sure the drum spins freely by hand.
