The Rotor Assembly is an OEM part for LG washing machines. This component is critical for the proper functioning of the washer's motor, helping to rotate the drum during the wash and spin cycles. It works in conjunction with the stator to generate the necessary magnetic fields for drum rotation.

Causes of a bad rotor assembly can include excessive wear over time, exposure to heavy loads, or physical damage due to mishandling. A malfunctioning rotor assembly can hinder the washer’s ability to spin and agitate effectively.

Symptoms of a bad rotor assembly include:

  • The drum not spinning or agitating properly
  • Unusual noises such as grinding or clunking during operation
  • Error codes related to motor issues displayed on the control panel
  • The washer not completing wash cycles correctly

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore models.

David for Model Number LG Model # MHK63940403 with AHL72914402 rotor

The LE light was flashing and the washer was stopped with a lot of water in the drum. i unplugged the washer and held the on/pause button for 5 seconds. LE still flashed. This was repeated a few times and LE still flashes. Let it sit for a day and tested again. LE still flashes. I removed the rotor AHL72914402 and see no sign of damage anywhere. The black cog in the center of the rotor hub MBF618448 PBT-GF30 does not look very worn, especially when compared to magnified pictures on internet. Magnets are in good shape. So, my question is: Is the rotor still good or is there some other problem?

1 Answer

It is likely that there is another issue. Maybe a piece of clothing got stuck between the basket and tub.

Daniel, You do not want to glue the magnet back together because it will cause issue. You will want to replace the rotor.

Geekboy, Based on the information provided it sounds as if something did not get seated completely, either the shaft in the bearing or the stator and bolts. You will need to take them off and check.

VladMaster99, The rotor is lined with magnets and can difficult to remove but you will need to remove the center nut and pull it straight off the stator.

JM, Because the rotor is magnets, you may need to use a pry bar and get in between the rotor and the bottom of the tub to pry it off.

Tiffany for Model Number WTW8800YC1

Hello, I have a whirlpool cabrio platinum washer. It has been throwing the code F51. I have been able to do really small loads and them going completely thru the cycle with no code flashing, but other loads will not complete. I’m not sure what to do my husband and I replaced the RPS sensor piece and we took the tub out to look for lodged clothing but neither of those seemed to fix the problem. I really don’t want to get rid of the washer but I’m getting to that point. I just don’t understand why it will spin and wring the clothes out on some loads and not the others? Thanks! (If I do a load of like 1-3 things at a time on quick wash with light soil level, low spin and cool water it goes thru everytime...) Tiffany

1 Answer

Tiffany, There is a tech sheet under the top, mounted inside the cabinet in a plastic bag on the top left corner. Go to page 4 test number 3 and follow the instructions and tests with a multimeter to determine the cause of that failure code.
