Kelly for Model Number 796.4219# The drum on my Kenmore Elite front loader stopped spinning. I narrowed it down to the either the rotor or the stator. Took it off and the rotor shows no signs of damage. The stator wires appear solid, but there are tiny imperfections/abrasions on 5-6 fins. Small Silver spots on copper-colored wire near plastic edge. Is this enough damage to the stator to explain my problem? I expected much more visible damage.
Answer Kelly, the silver spots can be hot spots occurring in the windings. The windings of the stator 4417EA1002K can be tested by testing from terminal 1 of the stator to terminal 2, then terminal 1 to terminal 3, then terminal 2 to terminal 3. The resistance should fall within 5 to 15O of resistance on each test and the windings should all be the same measurement. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Thursday, January 9, 2020
