Bruce for Model Number LDS4821ST My diswasher is stopped cleaning dishes. I think the problem is the water pump as I don't see the arms spinning when I open the door in the middle of the cycle (I think I should be able to see this?). It's my understanding the waterpump creates the pressure to make the arms spin. I have checked for debris clogging and there was none. Does my issue sound like a faulty water pump?
Answer Hi Bruce. Before you buy the motor/sump assy., first try to do a thorough cleaning of the unit. Remove the racks and the wash arms. Use a pick tool to assist. and invert the wash arms and rinse out or dislodge debris from the jet holes. Get a shop vac and a torx type screwdriver tips (T-20) to start at the top and remove the top filter flow plate with the fine mesh screen. Clean all parts as you go. The wet vac will help greatly. There is a impeller that is black and approx. 2-1/2 " diameter that if it is clogged or broken it will not create the pressure needed to allow the upper wash arms to turn. It is part# 5911ED3003A. Lay all parts aside carefully so you can reassemble them. There is a chopper blade at the bottom ,part # 5832DD4001A. If this is damaged replace it also as it slices the food particles for the drain.
