The Sump and Motor Assembly is an OEM replacement part for LG dishwashers. As a functional pumping component, it circulates water and removes debris during dish cycles.

Symptoms of a bad sump and motor assembly can include:

  • Inability to properly fill or drain water from the dishwasher
  • Leaks or excessive pooling of water inside the unit
  • Loud knocking or grinding noises from the motor area

Causes of failure may involve a clogged or cracked sump housing impairing flow, or wear of the motor bearings degrading power output over time.

This genuine OEM LG part is also compatible with some select Kenmore brand models.

Hello Judd, to find the leak point, remove the lower front toe plate so you can see underneath, wipe off any water drops along the outer edge of the inner door panel, run the wash cycle that consistently causes a leak, use a flashlight to look underneath along the front edge, then the door panel corners for the leak point, if you have to reach under the dishwasher to check, turn off power to the dishwasher. Possible leak causes are, sudsing, rack not fully pushed in, worn door gasket, worn/cracked spray arms.

Pennypincher50 for Model Number LDF6920ST

I replaced 3 parts (mesh filter, circulation pump motor & circulations motor) in my dishwasher 2 years ago and now it's making awful noises again. I see that you show part # AJH31248608 (Sump Assembly) for not much more than I paid for only 3 items. My question is other sites show this IS the direct replacement unit for the entire Sump Assembly for my LG dishwasher yet your site tells me it is NOT compatible. Why is LDF6920WW ok but LDF6920ST not OK? Isn't the last two letters referring to the color? WW=white. BB=Black & ST=stainless. I would like to order it because your price seems very good but I'm afraid to order without confirmation that it WILL work. Thank you!

Al, the sump assembly would need to be disassembled from the top to inspect the drain port of the sump assembly. This will allow for inspecting if there are any issues in the sump assembly. If it checks good, then you would want to inspect the drain hose from the sump all the way to the drain port for any partial clogs.

Am for Model Number LDF6920ST

Recently my LG (model LDF6920ST) dishwasher started making whistling noise during wash cycles. No error codes yet. Quick research showed that it might be bearings going bad on the washer pump. Not sure how old the unit was when we bought the house or how the previous owners used it, but we only used it for a relatively short period of time (less than 2 years). Original part for the entire sump assembly is AJH31248602, however LG seems to have a substitution: AJH31248608. I'm just trying to make sure that this is accurate and I should be ordering AJH31248608. Thanks!

AM, Yes the AJH31248608 / AJH31248608 Sump Assembly(complete) is the correct part to order for the model number you supplied. Unfortunately, the part is presently out of stock and will need to be ordered. This will add a few days to the delivery process, once you place the order. Thanks,

I'm replacing the drain hose assembly on my LG dishwasher p/n AEM69493803). While connecting to the drain pump / motor assembly, I found a small rubber stopper just kind of lying around. It appears that it tore apart from where it should be. It appears that I may have to replace the entire assembly (p/n AJH31248604). That seems like a waste of time and money when the only issue is a small piece of rubber that costs about 3 cents! The assembly is basically all one piece of molded plastic with the drain pump attached. Do I have to replace the whole thing? Or is there another option?

Mike, The part that is just laying there would be the check valve and can be gotten separately. The part number for the check valve is 5220ED4004A.

Ed, You will want to remove the front panel of the dishwasher and check the tube that comes off the vent on the left side for it being clogged. If it does not appear to be clogged then replace the vent assembly ABT35083801.

Hello Keith. The Motor is working abnormally. Wiring connection is OK? The Impeller of Washing Pump is locked. The rotor of Washing Motor is locked. The Blade is locked. If so, Replace the cause of restriction. If all is free, replace the motor. If issue still there, replace PCB.
