Brian S for Model Number RS253BABB Freezer works ok, but the Fridge side freezes up in the coils every 3 to 4 weeks. From reading your Q&A sounds like I need to replace the Evaporator Assembly, which also contains the Defrost unit (not sold separately). I also read in a post that the defrost unit could be removed from the new evaporator assembly and replaced without having to mess with the cooling stuff. How do I identify what the defrost element looks like when looking at the evaporator assembly? Is the defrost unit easily removed and replaced? Thanks
Answer Brian, When you look at the evaporator there is the loop that is attached to the drain pan. This part is the heater assembly. You will want to remove this part from the evaporator part and it will come off as an assembly. You would then remove the one from the old evaporator and install the new one. Read More...
