John My 3 year old French door refrig continues to break down. The top ice maker constantly freezes up, I get loud fan noises. I had rest it, forced defrost, unplugged it for multiple sessions. Fianly I called a $200 repair and they came in and we discussed Samsung refit manufacturing issues. His machine showed I needed a new master circuit board and I had it replaced and took the hit. 2 weeks later, my freezer warmed up to 5 and refrigerator to 61. I unplugged it again for 30 minute reset and after plugging it in, the freezer dropped below zero but frig never moved. This is about the 6-7 time I have had this issue within 3 months. Today the refrig is flashing at 37 again. With spending $300+ again for repairs, is there a better process to end the cycle, or a recall notice or what can we do with the 2000 buck frig? Many more repairs I’ll have the cost of a new frig. Frustrated
Answer John, It would be recommended to check the thermistors on the unit which at room temp should read 1090 ohms of resistance. Check the evaporator coils behind the refrigerator wall and check the frost pattern. If the coils are impacted with ice then the issue will be a defrost issue. Test the defrost heater and the defrost bimetal. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Tuesday, December 4, 2018
