Kendra for Model Number Whirlpool LSN1000KQ My washer has stopped spinning and emits a very loud, constant sound when it reaches the spin cycle. The only way to get it to stop is to shut the washer off or manually move it out of the spin cycle. It appears to agitate and drain fine. My husband replaced the clutch but that didn't correct the issue. There were no rubber shavings under the washer so I don't think it is the motor coupling. Could it be the drive block?
Answer Kendra, If the noise is a rapid clacking or thumping noise at the start or end of the spin, then yes, you'll need to check the drive block WP389140 and the drive tube W10820043. The retainer slots in the drive block can round out and begin to slip. If left alone long enough, the "ears" or tabs on the top of the drive tube can also round out / off and the tub will not spin.
