Answer Don, once you've lifted the tub(spin basket) off the drive block, you can insert a large flat blade screwdriver into the slot and twist the screwdriver to loosen the fit on the spin tube and slide it off. If you're careful, you can tap it off with a hammer if need be. It sounds like you need the transmission shaft seal WP356427. You shouldn't need a gear puller to remove the drive block, in either case. The spin basket does have a tendency to "stick" to the drive block, and needs to be broken loose by apply weight or pressure to one side of the tub.
