Devin D. for Model Number GHW9150PW1 Our Whirlpool Washer began making noise and we noticed it was not turning. Thinking it might be the rubber belt I took it off. Belt looked fine so I Spun the tub, smooth as butter. Went to spin the motor and the pulley was striped out on the motor shaft. The splines on the pulley are stripped, motor shaft splines look fine. Can I order a new pulley and tap it on the motor shaft? How about just welding the pulley on to the motor shaft? The motor appears to be in very good shape. It would be a shame to buy a motor just for the pulley.
Answer Hello Devin. No, if the pulley has come off the motor, you will need to order and replace the motor WP8182793 in the unit. If you weld it, it will be off balance. Hope this helps. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Saturday, February 11, 2012
