This motor control board is created for use with washing machines. It's located inside the washing machine, where users can change settings and start or stop the appliance. It is tasked with regulating how quickly the washer spins during a cycle. Wear and tear or damage can cause the motor control board to malfunction. This may make it impossible for the washer to agitate or spin. If this happens, a replacement will need to be made.To replace this part, start by unplugging the appliance. Once the area is safe, the bottom front panel should be removed. This will provide access to the original motor control board. Pull on the motor control board until the wires can be reached. The position of these components should be noted before taking out the part. Replace with a new motor control board and replace the wires. This motor control board is designed to fit washing machines made by Maytag, Whirlpool, Kenmore, and KitchenAid. This is an authentic OEM replacement part that is sourced directly from the manufacturer. It's sold as a single part.

For Whirlpool Control Board (Part Number: OEM17869179)

Johnnie, For this issue, you will want to check to ensure that there is power from the Central Control Unit to the MCU. If there is 120 Vac then the MCU would be the cause for this issue.

Lee, Check to see if there is 120 Vac going into the main control board. If this checks ok then the issue will be with the main control board.

We have a Kenmore Elite HE 3t. We are getting both F 11 and FH failure codes. The machine will sometimes alarm at 48 minutes and stop and at 11 minutes and stop. Sometimes it will run through cycle down to 1 minute and then spend the next hour turning the drum back and forth and never complete the cycle. Sears service has been out a couple of times. Once they cleaned out the pump reservoir and said the problem was sudsing. Told us that we were using too much soap. That didn't fix the problem and when he came back he said the drain hose was too long and shortened it. At one point we were getting a DL Alarm so I changed the Door Lock Switch. Not sure what to try next. Maybe dig a hole and buy new washer/Dryer.

Hello Michael, the fault codes match the symptoms you are describing, the fault code FH refers to the washer running out of water fill time during wash or rinse fill, this is usually caused by sediment build-up in the cold water side of the water inlet valve, Part WP8181694, the F11 code refers to the Motor Control Board located on the base of the washer is starting to fail, Part W10756692.

Larry, as the drain pump is operating properly in the drain and spin cycle, the drain pump would not be an issue. However, when water is filling, if there are a lot of suds occurring, this can cause pressure issues. If the unit continues to fill but the water does not fill the tub up, then the drain hose placement will need to be checked due to being placed too far into the standpipe can cause siphoning.

I have a Kenmore washer model 110.42922200. I changed the pump and tub to pump and drain hoses and ball and seal in the tub to pump hose approximately 6 months ago due to improper drainage at the end of the cycle. I then started getting suds error messages. I opened the drain pump to check for obstructions but everything checked okay. No issues for about a month then I started getting an FH error message, so I changed the level switch. Still kept getting FH error so I replaced the flow meter. Same issue. Called Sears and had a tech come out, he said the fill valve was bad, so I replaced that. Same problem FH error code. So I replaced the CCU. Still getting the same error code. Hose from tub to level switch is connected and clear. Water is flowing through both hot and cold lines. Drain pump appears to be functioning properly. I am out of ideas and have replaced all of the parts that the service manual says could be causing the FH error code?

1 Answer

Hello Larry, If the unit is filling with water the issue could be a stopped up water pressure hose. This can occur in the hose or inside the air dome at the tub end of the hose. Since all parts have been replaced, as long as the new parts were good, the issue will have to be here or in the wiring/connection to the flow meter.

Edward for Model Number GHW9100LW1

The washing machine is completing all cycles, from start to finish with no error codes, but it will not tumble the laundry or spin. I assumed the belt had broken since everything appeared to be working but the basket never turns through a load of laundry. I completed the diagnostic test- C:01 through C:08 with no error codes. I pulled the back off the washer and tested the motor, per the wiring diagram posted inside the cabinet. I have 6.2 ohm at 1-2, 2-3 and 1-3. I would have expected an error code if the MCU went bad. Any thoughts? Is there a way to test the MCU?

1 Answer

Edward, The only thing you could do to check the MCU is to make sure that there is 120 vac going into the MCU and power out of the MCU. This issue does sound like it will be a MCU error.

Rich for Model Number 11047081600

Hello, I have a Kenmore 11047081600 HE5t. I've been getting an F25 error code, during the spin cycle on most mode selections. However, once the error code is set and the Washer is shut down, turning the power off and back on, then selecting express wash usually finishes the cycle, unless it is a second or third batch of wash with little time to sit in the off time... I have checked the drive motor tachometer resistance which should be approx. 115 ohms. However, it measures approx.192 ohms. The windings measure approximately 6.2 ohms between the motor pins 1,2 and 3. I have also check wire harness connections between the drive motor and the Motor Control Unit (MCU), and between the MCU and the Central Control Unit (CCU). all check out fine. Does the high ohms on the motor tachometer indicate a need to replace the motor? What about testing the MCU, how do I do that? Thanks!

1 Answer

Rich, based on the ohms reading on the tachometer, you will need to replace the drive motor, part number [WP8182793]

Gerardo, The F1 E1 would be a CCU error and you will want to check electrical outlet for damage, A power surge may have caused the issue and this will most likely be a faulty main control board W10427972.

Brad for Model Number 11045872400

I am wondering if I need either the Control Unit or Motor control unit. Regardless of what wash cycle I choose, the cycle rarely completes a cycle without the unit either flashing FH or the water will not shut off during the spin, so the washer stays in a low spin cycle until I pause it, shut the water off and reactivate the washer. It then finishes properly, as long as I keep the water shut off. Sometimes there is some water remaining in the tank even after the spin cycle. Thanks
