Paul for Model Number 8185638 I too bought this and my original part had two connector prongs. The part I had has four(5 total. 3 free, and two welded together. The images you have on your site only show 2 prongs and one welded together (3 total). please help!
Answer Paul, This part may have been "substituted" by the manufacturer. Without a model and serial number, it's a bit difficult to verify. But, if the wattage rating and burner size are proper, you can use the new burner. The two terminals farthest away from the element, on the sensor assembly(box) usually labeled 1B and 2B, are for the "hot surface" indicator light, and you can disregard those connections if you have no hot surface indicator circuit, or a individual sensor mounted to the cook top. Leaving you two wires to contend with. One wire will attach to the "empty" terminal on the outside of the burner element ring, and the other will attach to the"empty" terminal, closest to the element, and opposite the welded tab.
