Tim for Model Number Maytag LAT9205AAE My mother-in laws Maytag washer (LAT9205AAE) quit spinning yesterday. It does everything else, agitates, fills, drains, etc just fine. No noises or smells or smoke prior to the problem occurring. The belts are not slipping and appear to be the right tension. The motor does switch direction from agitate to spin cycles. The transmission pulley turns in both directions easily but does not turn the tub. It does turn the agitator. When I try to turn the tub from above (from inside the tub) using my hands it moves with difficulty (like the brakes are on) though smoothly in both directions without any grating or noises. When turning the tub from above I notice the transmission moves as the tube moves. Just guessing the transmission is not supposed to move when the tub turns on spin! Does this sound like the transmission or the tub bearing or something else? Thanks
Answer Hello Tim, When the unit goes into spin, the entire transmission and the spin basket should turn. If the pulley spins but htre transmission is not, there is an issue inside the transmission assembly 6-2097750. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, January 4, 2016
