The Pump and Drive Belt Kit is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool washing machines. The Pump and drive belt kit is responsible for helping to drain water from the washer drum during the wash cycle. The pump and drive belt kit works by powering the washer's pump to remove water from the drum and out of the washer. The drive belt provides the power to turn the pump, while the pump helps to drain the water. The kit includes 1 pump belt and 1 drive belt.

This part fixes the following symptoms:

  • Standing water in the washer drum
  • Ineffective or non-existent water drainage
  • Potential water damage or flooding caused by a faulty pump or drive belt

Causes of needing to replace the pump and drive belt kit include normal wear and tear over extended use, exposure to debris or foreign objects, or physical damage from impact or mishandling.

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore washer models.

For Whirlpool Pump And Drive Belt Kit (Part Number: OEM12033546)

Dan, You most likely have a seized tub bearing/tub seal assembly. First, remove the front panel, and raise the top panel, remove the tub cover and check to make sure there's nothing stuck between the tubs. Raise and block up the front of the washer and remove both belts, Make sure the motor moves freely back and forth on the motor carriage and check the belts. Carefully reach under the washer and turn the drive pulley counterclockwise the agitator should oscillate, Turn the pulley clockwise, after 1/2 to 3/4 revolution you should be able to turn the pulley and see the tub and transmission turn, if it doesn't turn or is very hard to turn, the tub bearing is seized and will need to be replaced.

Mark P. for Model Number LAT8614AAL

Maytag washer goes through cycles, spins, drains but won't agitate. By process of elimination I think I've narrowed it down. I believe the lid switch, water pressure switch and motor are ok, because if fills with water and stops at the right level, starts the cycle when lid switch is depressed and spins and drains so motor is ok. I replaced the belts a few years ago, but they have been running on the tightest setting. They look fine but could they be stretched? My biggest concern is that when I turn the main pulley by hand counterclockwise, the whole transmission turns, so the drum and agitator are turning. From what I understand that shouldn't be happening because that is the agitation cycle and only the agitator should be turning. When I turn it clockwise everything turns, which it should because that is the spin cycle. Also the agitator itself is fine. I can't turn the drum or agitator from above but no problem turning drum and agitator with the pulley. I took the agitator off and tried to turn the trans shaft with channel locks and it wouldn't budge. Does this sound like a transmission, brake or clutch problem? or something else? I don't think it's the clutch because I don't think it would spin if that was it. Just not positive exactly how the brake works or what the symptoms of a bad one would be. Otherwise I'm thinking it's something in the trans. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.

Mark, This would most likely be a transmission issue as the brake will only cause the unit to not spin from being locked up.

Hello Diane, the motor on this model turns in one direction for agitation and the other direction for spin, if it can turn one way it can turn the other way, the direction is controlled by the timer 207373, however, it is no longer available.

Hello Robbie, first, with washer not operating, you should be able the lid and turn the basket by hand. If it turns you will need to run the Test mode to determine what the fault code is from the control board. Your washer came with a Test sheet it is located behind the front cabinet panel near the top in a plastic bag. It has all the tests, troubleshooting guide, and specs for the washer.

Roger, The tub bearings don't usually "heal themselves" and the noise goes away, but it is a remote possibility. It's a more likely issue is a faulty drain pump, belts and check the motor rollers and springs on the motor carriage. ( 2206671 isn't a Maytag model number, the model number usually start with an A, LA, LAT then numbers ending in 2 or 3 letters, a proper model number is a great help).

Hello Connie, you need to access the motor area under the washer, there is a belt guard cover that can be removed and then check the belt/motor/pulley components, ,sometimes the gearcase pulley comes loose and allows the belt to rub on the cover.

Beverly, thank you for your question, you will need to pull the unit out about a foot and lean it back to reach the belts that are located underneath the washer.

Pat, If the unit will only agitate like in the gentle cycle then this would indicate a faulty high speed on the motor winding.
