Larry for Model Number LAT8006AAE Hi, I like this forum. My washer machine is burning the drive belt (first noticed in spin cycle, but could be in agitation as well). Both pulleys on motor turn freely without a belt and when the pump alone is turning. Without belt, Pump Pulley is turning freely. Without Belt, Drive pulley spins freely and easily in the ccw direction (looking up point of view) = all day long. However, Drive pulley spins freely, then engages in the cw direction(looking up point of view) after 4-6 full continuous rotations (it appears that the pulley is actually raising up closer to the transmission). When it engages, it takes a lot of force to rotate the tub. When I let go of the pulley, it is like it is spring loaded and it spins cw for about 1-2 rotations. I believe that this "hard spot" is what is causing the belt to slip and burn. I removed the agitator from inside of tub - there is nothing holding it up. How do I determine if this is bearing or transmission or other? What do you recommend replacing?
Answer Hello Larry. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the tub bearing 6-2040130 and the mounting stem kit 6-2095720 will need to be replaced on the unit. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Wednesday, May 16, 2012
