Zeek for Model Number whirlpool lsc8244eq1 My washer is making a grinding noise when in spin cycle, it goes through the wash cycle correctly. it spins correctly but I dont know if the agitators should move together with the spinning drum, they stop for a millisecond and makes a big thumping noise then the grinding continues while the agitators move together with the drum then another stop of the agitators with a loud thump while the drum is still spinning. this happens only in the spin cycle.
Answer Hi Zeek. Remove the agitator . Under the tub nut is a drive block that may have broken part # WP389140. If while inspection there you will need to replace these parts. You will need to check the top of the basket drive to see if the square ears that mate with the drive block has not rounded off on the square sides. If so you will need to replace the basket drive as well Part # W10820043. Then if these inspects well, you need to concern yourself with the brake assy. part # 285438. If they are not holding, you will have spin in agitation also. Thank You. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Tuesday, February 21, 2012
