Symptoms of a bad inlet valve include:

  • No water supply to the ice maker or dispenser

  • Ice maker or dispenser not functioning properly

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore refrigerator models.

Carl for Model Number Kenmore Elite 10657703703

Aloha! I really appreciate the information you provide here, extremely helpful. I had some issues with cracked lines and I think leaks from the intake valve. I fixed the lines, I think, but had a small drip from the 5/16 intake valve connection point, but I managed to eliminate that by using an elbow union to keep the line more upright going into the intake valve. Water dispenser works, but the ice maker is overflowing. Is there a way to turn keep water from the ice-maker but keep the dispenser flowing? I ordered a new intake valve but would like the water dispenser functioning if possible while we wait for the part. Thank you!

Answer

Carl, there would not be a way to shut off specifically the ice maker side of the water line as there are no manual shut off valves in the water system. If the water is flowing too much into the ice maker but is not leaking by when the ice maker is not calling for water, then the ice maker can be turned off by sliding the optical sensor on the right to the off position.
