The Inlet Valve is an OEM component for Whirlpool refrigerators. It is responsible for controlling and regulating the flow of water into the ice maker and water dispenser components. The valve inlet plays an important role in precisely metering water levels for optimal operation of these features.

Causes of a bad Inlet Valve can include mineral buildup inhibiting proper function, worn out or damaged sealing components, or issues with the electronic controls that operate the valve.  

Symptoms of a bad inlet valve include:

Hello, You can force a cycle by shorting the 120Vac from terminals "T" and "H" together. The door switch may need to be closed and the flap for the optics needs to be pressed in where the optics are not blocked. After about 2 minutes, the ice maker should energize the water valve for about 7 seconds.If you attach your test meter leads to the water valve connection for this you can see the voltage reading if the valve is energized. You can also user the shortcut if you want. This being: remove the electrical connectors from the dual water valve and put the one for the water dispense on the ice maker water valve. Now if you dispense water and the valve is working, the ice maker will fill until you let go of the dispense paddle.
