How to Troubleshoot & Replace Bosch AP2822714 / 00154740 Carbon Brush, Drum Motor

Replaced the brushes on the electric motor. Be sure to blow out the motor with some compressed air to get all of the carbon dust from the old brushes out. These guys really came through - FedEx lost my first shipment! However, I called up and AppliancePartsPros was able to get a replacement overnighted to me at no cost. Awesome customer service!! 

Took out the motor to clean the armature and found that the brushes needed to be replaced instead. 

When my Bosch Nexxt 100 washer drum stopped spinning, I did a bit of research on line before spending money on a repair man and you should too! Found out that one possible cause was the carbon brushes worn down then found a video on You Tube showing how to change them out. Looked easy enough so ordered the brush set, it arrived in 2 days and took less than 15 minutes to replace them. Saved myself $500 on a repairman who would've wanted to replace the entire motor! Thanks Appliance Parts Pros! 

After researching what the problem was, we ordered our parts from Appliance Parts Pros and replaced them. Drum is spinning fine again! Everything we read said that we would have to replace the whole motor to the tune of a couple hundred dollars. However, after reading reviews from other individuals, we found the carbon brushes can be replaced on that motor with no problem, and for only $40! 

First off, great company to deal with. They shipped me the correct part in two days. unbelievable! Pulled the motor and after watching a utube video was able to pull old brushes and replace the, First attempt they didnt seat properly. Affter the first load of wash it quit again. Pulled and redid them with success! 

I replaced the motor brushes and repaired/reconnected two wires that were disconnected in the motor harness. I suspect the problem was the wires but the brushes were worn enough that they might have been the problem. Under any circumstances the brushes were close to if not already in need of replacement. 

Ordered parts and husband completed the repair within an hour of receiving parts. The machine now works just fine. Thank you for your service. 

The symptoms seemed to fit with a motor needing new brushes. I read some Amazon reviews of carbon brushes and found a youtube video "How to replace the washing machine carbon brushes on a Bosch Washer" by Spares. I pulled out the washer and took the back off and determined that it wasn't the belt. The job as depicted in the video was somewhat more difficult due to some minor differences with my washer. My suggestions are to pry the motor out with a screwdriver, blow the dust out of the motor with canned air, and clean the commutator with a small piece of 3m pad. My wife was able to get the new brushes reinstalled which was a test of patience! The terminal block on the motor proved nearly impossible to install blind. In the end, it worked and returned the washer to service and saving a service call and a new motor or a new washer.
