How to Troubleshoot & Replace Bosch AP2822714 / 00154740 Carbon Brush, Drum Motor

Took off the back, removed the belt and motor then swapped in the new brushes. Put everything back into place. Easy! 

Looked at some u-tube videos and then looked at the motor to determine it was the carbon brushes. Checked locally, but no one had them - ordered from Appliance Parts on Thursday afternoon and they Friday! Awesome to have my washer repaired for the weekend. Putting the brushes into the motor was the most difficult part of the repair (as the guy on u-tube said it was very fiddly). Didn't want to call a service person for a 10 year old machine - total cost of this fix was about $50 bucks and very little frustration. 

Internet search indicated that worn brushes is a likely culprit. I ordered the replacement brushes from AppliancePartsPro which they had in stock; they also had reasonable surcharge (approx $12 for 2 day delivery) for expedited delivery (as compared to Amazon's partner). The replacement brushes arrived on schedule. Following internet/YouTube instructions, I installed them and the washer is working again! 

Replaced the motor brushes. Remove the motor to make the job easier. Check the belt and write the part number down and order a new one for emergencies, as it will break at the worst time. 

I searched for the issue on the net. It was the carbon brushes. I saw online that AppliancePart had 24/7 phone line. I was able to talk to the service rep. She looked up the specific part, directed me to the net to confirm it was the correct piece. I ordered on Saturday afternoon. The part was shipped on Monday and received Wednesday(using the standard ground service). When I got home from work on Wednesday night the washer was back doing it's job within 30 minutes. The hardest part of this project was feeding the carbon brush springs into the channel. Patience is the key. This was a great experience.

I replaced the Carbon brush set. I found this to be a much easier task than expected after much a series of you tube tutorials.
