How to Troubleshoot & Replace Bosch AP3844311 / 00490467 Dispenser

Ordered the exact replacement unit. It fit perfectly and the end result was non runs, drips, or errors! 

Replaced dispenser. Hardest step was getting new dispenser to lock in place and seal. Push hard! 

Installed a new dispenser. Your online article made replacing the detergent dispenser assembly easy. 

I followed the video instructions provided online, which were clear and helpful. The installation of the dispenser wasn't as easy as shown in their video. The "snaps" were very tight to get back on. Had to help with the handle of a screwdriver, then pounded the blade to get the snaps securely on the retainers. Not so easy. But I didn't want it to slip out or leak. The detergent drawer stopped opening during the cycle, at first every once in a while, then almost every time. I put this one in and it fixed the problem. Couple of observations: The front panel on my dishwasher looks different than the video. I've got the model with the buttons that hide under the counter when you close the door. The panel comes out the same way, though. You take out all the screws and then slide it down, away from the buttons. Getting the old dispenser out was hard to do with a screwdriver because when I got one metal thing clear, the other one would snap back in place. I ended up using toothpicks to hold the metal clips all at once so I could push it out. When I went to install the new dispenser, I found that pushing the bottom in first and clicking the tabs in place worked better, and then pushing the top ones in. It's a very tight fit and took a lot of pressure, but it's in now and appears to be working fine.

Installation was simple based on the video included on the ordering page. Just unscrew and remove the door cover to gain access to the dispenser, and the rest is pretty much plug and play. The metal retaining clips are super sharp so gloves are definitely necessary. The unit also comes with a gasket so you don’t need to order one separately. 

I ordered the replacement part and it arrived very quickly. I had no problems removing the old soap dispenser after viewing the "how to" video at AppliancePartsPros.com. When I attempted to install the new soap dispenser, it was immediately apparent that the black gasket material was not as pliant as the old gasket material and it made the installation of the new soap dispenser virtually impossible. Having read comments by others who had attempted this repair, I remembered reading that one or more persons had reused the old gasket. I removed the old gasket from the old soap dispenser, cleaned it up, and put it on the new soap dispenser. I then installed the new soap dispenser without any further issues. The dishwasher is now working properly and we have noted no leaks around the soap dispenser. 

Your search tool to find the right part was great. On other sites I could not be sure they were recommending the right part or some cheap knockoff that wouldn't fit correctly. The how to video was super helpful to show exactly how to do the repair.
