How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP3687338 / 240396002 Frigidaire Refrigerator Water Filter Base

I watched the video and it didn't take long to replace the part. Turned the water back on and it works again! 

This part was the problem. If you don't hear a click when you press the filter in, this is probably it. It works great now. Pretty easy fix. Repair video was good, however not much room or light to work and make sure you have a screwdriver (or several) that are not too long. The 1/4 inch nut driver as well shouldn't be too long as there is limited room on some of those screws. I also removed the light bulb to get at one of the screws. 

After some trouble shooting found the water line on the freezer door was frozen. Removed the plastic water line, thawed line and replaced same. 

I ordered the part and followed the instructional video. It took about an hour. It was relatively easy. 

First thing I did was order the water filter base. Received it in the mail and compared it to the original. Looked completely the same, even the gap between the holding clamps (L and R). Since my filter would not seat to a click (reason I ordered the part) I decided to remove the outer face plate from the filter. This allowed the filter to push in slightly offset of center....and allowed a click sound to seat. Presto...problem fixed. Now I have a spare part when needed. The retention system of these refrigerators are poorly designed, but I don't plan to purchase a new frig for a lousy part...I don't mind looking at the two filter tubes without the face plate. 

Went on you tube checked out video, for this repair. Ordered part, three days later part came in, had the tool I needed,1/4" nut driver. 10 min. later repair was complete, no leaks. 

Ordered a new replacement water filter base. Shipping was super quick and actually arrived two days sooner than I had originally expected it to! Install was a breeze. 

I replaced the water filter base in about 20 minutes and the instructional video was great! It was a very easy fix and everything is back to working condition! 

My 13 yr old Frigidaire needed the filter base replaced, so I went to APP and put in my model # and found the part I was looking for. As a added surprise, it had a HOW TO video on the parts page to illustrate how easy it was to install. Part arrived in 2 days and I had the part install in < 60 mins. 

Replaced the Water Filter Base with a new one. The Repair Video was extremely effective with the replacement. The video was very thorough and precise. Saved me a lot of time and money. When I first encountered this issue, I feared having to call someone to service it. I dreaded the cost of repair and possible having to purchase a new refrigerator. Being an engineer, I feel the metal clamps on the front of the Water Filter Base suffered metal fatigue which prevented the Filter from locking into place. I never really was impressed with this Frigidaire model. Fyi: the video mentioned 5 of the screws would require a 1/4" nut driver. The 5th screw turned out to be a phillips head. Had to use a mirror and a small plash light to determine it. Thank you, David P.
