The Refrigerator Water Filter Base is an OEM part for Frigidaire refrigerators. It holds the water filter in place and provides a secure connection to the water supply, ensuring clean and filtered water flows through the refrigerator.

Causes of a bad water filter base can include wear and tear over time, damage from improper filter installation, or issues with the water connections leading to leaks. Additionally, mineral buildup from hard water can affect the performance and integrity of the base.

Symptoms of a bad water filter base include:

  • Water leaks around the filter area
  • Poor water flow or reduced water pressure
  • Filter not fitting securely or falling out
  • Unusual tastes or odors in the filtered water

This OEM replacement is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore models.

For Frigidaire Frigidaire Refrigerator Water Filter Base (Part Number: OEM11062023)

1 Answer

Jeff, this is going to be a failure with the filter housing base 242009604 as it should not allow water to go through due to a built-in stopper.

Michael Murphy for Model Number FGTC2349KS2

We have a residential refrigerator in our RV. When it was winterized last year, the shop failed to winterize the water lines in the refrigerator. Needless to say, I have water flowing from just about everywhere. In looking at the parts breakdown, I noticed most of the water lines are clear as opposed to the color-coding that is used from the factory. Are the replacement water lines color-coded to match the originals or will I have to tag them at the valve as they are replaced? Also, the water tank on the parts manual shows a vertical orientation. The one in our unit is horizontal. Is this just for illustration purpoases, or is it a different tank?

1 Answer

Michael M, You will need to mark the lines as the replacements are not color-coded. The water tank can go either direction in which it fits.

Harli, viewing from the front of the refrigerator, the tan water tube attaches to the right side/lower tube connection and the clear tube attaches to the left side/bottom tube connector. The video attached to part number 240396002 will be very helpful to installing the water filter base assembly. Thanks,

Bob, the base 240396002 would need to be replaced if it is leaking and the filter has been verified as seating fully into the base. What this would indicate is that the bypass valve in the filter base is not setting properly and causing pressure build-up at the filter stem.

Mike, The darker hose would go on the right side as you are looking at it from the front and the clear would go to the left.

Joe, You will want to check to see if the fill tube is frozen in the door by disconnecting the water tube at the bottom of the hinge and pushing the dispenser lever. If the water does not come out of the tube coming from under the refrigerator then check for a frozen water tank and then if this checks ok then the issue will be a faulty water valve.

Hello Brad, You should check the water lines and filter for any possible cracks. If the issue is being caused by a cracked water line, replacing the water filter with a bypass will not help. Also, the water lines should be checked where they enter the filter base since, if not fully inserted or if there are "ridges" formed in the water lines, they may not be sealing properly. If a filter bypass were installed it would not affect the icemaker operation.

Kevin Thompson for Model Number FGHB2844LF5

This unit is not making ice or giving water at the door. When I call for water at the door I get water in the line from the output side of the filter fine. The line then runs into the back of the fridg in the center with three lines going in I think it goes into the fridge to chill the water I get nothing out from those lines. Is there a reservoir that these lines go to that could be frozen? I can't find a schematic of where those lines go. Thanks

1 Answer

Kevin, There is a reservoir in the refrigerator that could be frozen and cause the dispenser line to freezer but the more likely cause would be a bad filter head since the icemaker and dispenser are not producing water. The reservoir is only for the dispenser.
