How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP8053015 / 242009604 Water Filter Base (Housing)

I removed the old water filter base with great difficulty in particular to remove the two water lines from the water filter base which was damaged. I found a recommendation to use a 7/16 open ended wrench in order to remove the water lines from the base. It wasn't easy but I was finally able to remove the water lines. I then installed the new water filter base and attached the waters lines to it before installing the new water filter base. Once I did that I installed the new water filter and it locked in place. Once that was done we ran water through the system and now it its fully operable. 

Traced down leak and replaced part. 

Entered model number, parts diagram came up and ordered parts. 

First you have to remove the housing. Took me a few minutes to realize that there's a screw that's underneath the cover of the light (it just lifts up). Remove the screw & pull the housing out. Next remove the 4 screws from the existing water filter base. The hardest part for me was pulling the water lines from the existing base. The water filter base that I ordered had come apart during shipping, so I had to put it back together, making sure that the step down part was in the right direction & that there was one of the 2 springs on either side of the latch. Once it was put back together, you just reattach the water lines (the base is marked in & out), put the 4 screws back in, put the housing back on & put that screw back in (which I kept dropping lol) & voila!! The filter stayed in & I now have water & ice again! 

Replaced the water filter base. About a 15 minute job. Received the base in the overnight mail. Good Job Appliance Parts Pros. 

I replaced the water filter base. It was a quick and easy to do. I watched a video on it and followed the steps with no problems. 

Super easy replacement, tubes easily detach from old part. Took under a minute to swap and insert new water filter. 

Replaced the filter base. Took about 5 minutes with a 1/4 nut driver, #2 Phillips head screwdriver and 7/16 in wrench. Removed the cartridge, removed one screw to remove the cover. Disengaged two water lines from filter base using wrench to pry them loose. Removed 2 screws with the nut drivers to remove filter housing asm. Then removed 4 screws with the Phillips head screwdriver to replace the water filter base. Reversed procedures for re-assembly. Easy job!
