How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP8053015 / 242009604 Water Filter Base (Housing)

We followed a repair video on Youtube and it was a simple 10 minute job. The part fit perfectly. 

This part took no more than 20 min to fix. 

Ordered new part and the repair was a breeze. 

Replaced filter base. Found best price from APP.com 

Purchased and replaced the defective part. 

Replaced the part the filter plugged into-about 3 screws. The part was well priced-cheaper that anyone else and delivers fast-thanks 

Changed the water filter base. 

Bought new filter base and successfully removed filter and base as an assembly. Installed new base and we are back in business!!! Phillips screwdriver (extra long) needed to remove base since filter was stuck in place. Used a 10mm open end wrench to depress water hose connections on filter base, so as to remove the hoses. Worked perfectly. 

A quick search on Google. Found the part on Appliance Parts Pros. Ordered the part, and it arrived in 2 days. Installed it, and the problem solved. The wife is very happy... 

I caused this problem myself by buying a knock off cheap water filter on Amazon instead of the Frigidaire brand that never gave us problems. The filter would not dislodge when it was time to change it. I ordered a new water filter base from AppliancePartsPros which fit perfectly. Installed a new genuine Frigidaire filter and all is good.
