How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP3844555 / 134484212 Control Board

I replaced the control board. 

I replaced the control board using the video provided on appliancepartspros.com. 

I used a screw drive to remove top cover and then proceeded to take off the front cover with the same screw drive to remove board. Then I removed the front panel to remove the drum. 

I was not able to access the error codes per the instructions included with the dryer. I narrowed the problem to the control board, a sensor or thermostat. As I would have to disassemble the dryer almost completely, in order to test them, I replaced two sensors(one appeared to be damaged) and the thermostat, even though they checked out good with the ohmmeter. Also this model of dryer has a history of lint build up so I thoroughly cleaned it during the disassembly. That did not fix it so I replaced the control board. Problem solved. The repair videos on AppliancePartsPros.com were a great help. You can repair/replace anything on this dryer with a #2 phillips screwdriver. Additionally for testing you will need an ohmmeter. With standard shipping I received the part next day. 

Installed new circuit panel. Seems to have fixed the problem. Dryed a couple loads and so far, so good. 

Replaced the Control Board. I watched the video as I replaced the board. Followed it step by step. The video made it very easy, and every step was included from start to finish. 

First the dryer was occasionally beeping but still working. Finally it got to the point where it would only stay on for 30 seconds then stop. I watched the instructional video about replacing the control board first. Then I replaced the board and the dryer works. Lots of buttons and springs fly out when you open it up but not too difficult to put back together. 

I had an appliance repair guy come over to check out the issues with our dryer. He determined through talking with tech support(which I could have done) that it was the control board. He said he would call me with a price and availability of the part. He never called or returned my calls. So I went on line and found Appliance Parts Pros. I found the part, the price was reasonable and the video was helpful. I ordered the part and it arrived in a few days. I changed the control board in about 20-30 minutes. Very easy. The video was a big help. You guys are great. Thanks Mike 

Read online that this was a problem from the manufacture. The Control Panel fixed it. However, the replacement part was missing one of the knob attachments. Luckily, the old unit was easy enough to disassemble to use that piece on the new piece. Also, non of the lights came with it. I had to pull the ones off the old panel. Everything works great so far. Waiting for the big test when My Wife gets home. 

Having had “practice” it took me less than two hours to replace the control board. What a joy to have a nine year old dryer that operates like new. I did view the video both times I replaced control as well as a thermistor . Thank you AppliancePartsPros.com for reasonable price and great service.
