How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP6284905 / 5304513033 Temperature Control Thermostat

Saved over $300 by ordering part and installing myself. thank you for your fast service. 

I went online and did a lot of research and to me it sounded like it might be an inoperative thermistor. While ordering the part at APP, I noticed that I could speak to a tech. online. I did and he said i should start with replacing the cold control, so I ordered that part as well. He was right it was the cold control and now the freezer is running like new. 

The coils have been blown out, temp is set to #7, door seals checked with dollar bill and are fine. When you close the door you can hear what sounds like a vacuum applying and the seal is tight. I replaced the temp controller unit which was very easy to do. Other than a lack of markings on the new part, it went well and I am waiting for a day to see if problem has been impacted by the new part. 

I replaced the Temp Control per your You Tube video. 

Reviewed several YouTube videos and decided the problem was the thermostat. Did google search and found AppliancePartsPros had the exact part I needed. 

Watched a video and then replaced it. Not bad the freezer is 7 years old and this makes it twice. It's just a pain to move everything out and do it. Good thing we are in our freezer almost ever day. 

Easy to change out the part. 

Used digital multi meter to measure voltage at compressor and capacitor (good) then measured the voltages for defrost switch (good). Moved to the thermostat and found 0 volts. Ordered thermostat and replaced it. Running like new. It took me longer to clean the inside than it did to replace the part. 

Purchased a new Temperature Control. Installed it and the freezer works great. 

I replaced the Defrost Timer. While I had it thawed out, I went ahead and changed the thermostat also. Did a thorough cleaning as well.
