John F Hampton Bays , NY April 17, 2017 Broken door latch Tried getting the replacement latch, an inexpensive part, but the part was no longer available because the entire door lock and switch were modified for the purposes of replacement parts. So I ended up having to buy not only the latch but the door lock, switch, and new wire harness kit. $$$. The replacement parts were easy - no instructions necessary, but the new wire harness definitely required instruction to know how to hook up the wires. Fortunately the instructions that came with the kit provided sufficient detail to do the re-wiring. I had to do a lot of studying of the words they used to describe how things are connected, and there was a little bit of vagueness about one connection, but once I fully understood what the instructions were saying, everything went together right and it all worked when I turned it on. So everything worked out OK. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 2+ hours Tools: Screwdrivers
Dan C Santa Barbara , CA August 14, 2014 Appliance: Model SEARS KENMORE FRONT LOADING WASHER Door light was on but it wasn't locking I looked at the schematic and flow chart which came with this six year old Kenmore front loading washing machine. It showed that if the light was on there should be current to the switch. Therefore it appeared to be a failure of the lock. I confirmed this assessment with a question to a technician at JustAnswer.com and the technician confirmed my diagnosis. He emailed a link to Appliance Parts Pros to my door lock kit and I made the purchase. I didn't use the entire kit, just the switch and it fixed the problem. My only problem using Appliance Parts Pros was that the shipment took a week to arrive. Applicance Parts Pros did apologize and credited me for the shipping charges. Read More...
