How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP7212939 / 5304534663 Ignitor

After troubleshooting the gas valve and igniter, I ordered the igniter from this site. It came in two days and was easy to install. The videos were REALLY helpful and made it easy for anyone to do. This was after a local company came out and misdiagnosed my problem which would have been an extra $160 at their cost. Long story short, appliancepartspros has made a customer for life. 

Replaced ignitor. 

After going on the internet and found that almost all problems were cause by a bad ignitor i order one. Once it came i installed and the oven works great now. 

This was a very easy fix thanks to the video posted on this website. I did not need access to the back of my oven. All I needed to do was remove the bottom drawer to detach the cables. 

Googled diagnosis for an oven that fails to heat and produces a strong gas smell. Determined it was the ignitor. Ordered a new ignitor, watched the video on how to install it. Took 1 day for the part to arrive and 20 minutes to install. Oven ignites and heats just fine now! Saved hundreds by diagnosing and installing myself rather than calling a repair man. 

Googled the problem , found a lot of helpful answers they all led to a bad igniter not having enough resistance to open the safty gas valve and allowing the gas to turn on . I looked on line at a number of sites for the best price and oem fit . and I must say APPLIANCE PARTS PROS had them all beat , price and exact fit . no adapting or modifing , ..i live a littlt south of BOSTON part was there in 2 days , no extra shipping cost . they have my buisness . very satisfied . THANK YOU ! 

Searched the internet for possible causes, narrowed it down to the oven ignitor. After running the checks suggested, determined that it was the most likely cause. Went to Appliance Parts Pro to locate the correct part ( site was very easy to use). Two different parts were shown, so I used the on-line chat to determine the difference in the two items. One came with a shield attached, the other was without a shield requiring you to utilize the old shield on the ignitor. Ordered the part without a shield. Replacement was relatively easy, after viewing the video available. Wife now has her oven back. 

My husband and I watched the directions on YouTube and followed it exactly and he successfully installed this igniter into our Frigidaire gas stove. I was thrilled as I did not have the use of our oven for two weeks, and when I looked at new stoves, the ones that had what I needed were over $1000.00 which we could not afford at this time. The part cost us $160.00 plus MA taxes and shipping! 

I followed numerous You-tube videos for this issue by checking the resistances of the valve and ignitor and they all eventually pointed to the control panel. Since the PCB is not available based on your site, I was forced to replace the oven. I just completed the RMA process for both parts that were never installed in my old oven. 

I took the oven racks out, then removed the two screws that held the lower panel of the oven panel on, then removed the panel. I then removed the 4 machine screws that held in the lower inner panel of the oven, then removed that panel. I removed the machine screws that held the oven igniter in place, pulled it out, and followed the wires to their connection (the connector for these wires is located behind the storage drawer at the bottom of the range). I then disconnected the wires and pulled the old igniter out of the oven. Installation of the new igniter was the reverse of the removal. Some caution was needed in installing the new igniter as the carbon element is exposed and is fragile.
