How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP6989890 / 5304525218 Door Latch

Put in this door lock assembly. Less then 30 minutes. Turn off the electric first. Fix is easy and fast. Techs are very helpful if you have questions. 

Replacement latch assembly 

I replaced the door latch with a new part. All it took was to remove the door panel, two screws on the latch and two electrical plugs. The part that was faulty was the electrical connection on the latch. The best part about using AppliancePartsPros was their easy part search tool, including exploded diagrams of the dishwasher. I ordered and replaced the defective Latch Assembly. 

I took a shot in the dark and ordered a door switch to replace once I got the front of the dishwasher disassembled. The existing switch tested OK but I replaced it. Drain float switch tested OK. Control board had no obvious burned components. Finally took the wire nuts off the powerleads, and hit them with contact cleaner and an emory board. There was a tiny bit of "varnish" like coating on the leads from the house circuit. Put it all back together and it worked. Not sure exactly why. I could have bumped some of the wiring to make better contact. 

I ordered and then replaced the broke Latch Assembly with a new one. 

My brand new dishwasher all of the sudden would not operate. I power cycled it thinking it was a settings issue. The dishwasher powered on as normal, but after the bootup process, all the LEDs went black and I could not operate anything! I called the company because my appliance was still under warranty, but was told that I had to wait two and half weeks just for a technician to look at it!
