How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP5998652 / 316233903 Probe

Removed and replaced the element. Make sure to mark connectors with tape because new elements have a different set up than original. 

Replaced the temperature sensor probe. 

Oven had quit working 3 days before Christmas!!. I was getting a error of F1. The staff was very supportive and told me it could be either part. Given the fact that I could return any parts for 365 days after purchase, I felt like we could give it a try. We put in the sensor probe first and it still didn't work, so then we installed the oven control board. That fixed it!! Note: You will need to take off the old face place and stick it to the new control board and calibrate your stove using the instructions that they can send to you. They saved me from buying a new stove and from having to call a service man to do the repairs!! An easy fix!! Thanks so much Appliance Parts Pros!! 

Having read what the problem might be one of two items would need to be replaced. I knew that the control panel was working and that meant that I would replace the probe. I followed the video on Appliance Parts Pro. and everything went just as it should. It took only a few minutes and it is now working great! Really appreciated the video instructions and the part was well priced. I would recommend anyone using the video instructions they are great!!! 

The oven temperature was way off below 300 degrees, but correct at higher temperatures. A new temperature probe solved the problem. Replacing the probe was very simple just like the video, but the connector did not match up as noted as a possibility in the instructions. Rather than cut off both connector and somehow replace them, I was able to remove the plastic housing from the new probe using a jewelers screwdriver to release the one way plastic tabs. I inserted the probe connector flat pins fit into the stove connecter round pin holes which fit snugly. I insulated them with heat shrink tubing which helped support the somewhat fragile flat probe connector pins against bending. 

Replaced the igniter and temp probe. 

According to our model's manual it said the F1 code could mean the clock was bad or either the temperature probe was bad. I ordered both replace both and oven is working fine now. The only thing is is the new clock and the probe are both different from the original. You will have to use the old end off of your probe and splice it onto your new probe. And the hookups for the clock or a little different but self-explanatory if you look at everything. 

I replaced the temperature probe sensor. 

When I researched what may be happening with my oven sources indicated it may be the ignitor or the temperature probe so I bought them both, watched the repair video, and installed them both, easy peasy.
