How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP5690431 / A00126401 Drain Pump Assembly

I replaced the drain pump. My dishwasher configuration was different than the one in the video. The pump was positioned so the screws were point down to the floor after tilting the dishwasher on its side. You had to prop up the unit slightly to get enough room to remove the screws. One screw was in a tight spot. That said, once you get the pump off it was simple to replace. The tight screw configuration was your only difficulty. A very short screwdriver would help. 

We found the OEM part we needed at a reasonable price. The shipping was fast, and the part was the perfect match. With plenty of demo videos available, the repair was simple. 

After getting bad news from the appliance service guy that our 14 year old dishwasher needed to be replaced we went shopping for a new dishwasher and coming away disappointed, I ordered a new circulation pump and new drain pump assembly in an attempt to keep the old dishwasher going. The parts came in exceptionally fast, like, next day fast! I cut the breaker off, disconnected the water supply and drain hose and pulled the dishwasher and set about to replace the pumps. The circulation pump installed easily with a Torx 20 driver. The Drain pump assembly also use the same Torx driver. That pump assembly was slightly different than the original part though. The o-ring was too small and didn't seal against the housing. Fortunately, the circulation pump kit came with an extra set of o-rings and the smaller of the two fit the drain pump perfectly. After fitting the pump with the new o-ring, the leak was plugged and I was able to reinstall the dishwasher and do a test rinse cycle. The dishwasher now has new life and much less noise and drains completely. Absolutely stoked to keep the old machine running for a while longer. Thank you Appliancepartspros.com! 

New drain pump. Followed diagnosis steps from several videos. Alert to others having this problem- original pump passed the continuity test. Pump must have been mechanically defective. 

It was an easy fix, once the part arrived it took about 10 minutes to change the drain pump out. 

Replaced the drain pump assembly. I preferred to spend more to get the original part from AppliancePartsPros.com than aftermarket parts that do not work as well. Thanks for the fast delivery. 

Replacement Drain Pump Assembly. 

Cleaned drain hose and cleared out any blockages. Still would not drain. Ran a rinse cycle and could hear the drain motor just humming when washer should have been emptying. Figured it was the drain pump/motor. Ordered new part here and was shipped quick. The replacement was easy, just three screws to take the old one off and put new one on. Dishwasher works great and drains perfectly now! 

Bought a new Drain Pump Assembly from you guys, and installed it. Now it works like it was brand new. 

I ordered a replacement drain motor from appliance part pros.com. After I installed the new part and reconnected the water line, and drain line, and plugged in the power cord. It worked as it should. I saved a fair bit of money by doing it myself. It took longer to disconnect and reconnect the water and drain lines and pull the dishwasher out than it did to replace the drain pump motor. Three T 20 torx screws and 2 wires. Pretty easy replacement.
