The Drain Pump Assembly is an OEM part for Frigidaire dishwashers. It plays a critical role in the dishwasher's operation by removing the used water at the end of each wash cycle, ensuring the machine is ready for the next load. This assembly includes the pump that powers the expulsion of water, along with any necessary housing and fittings to connect it securely to the dishwasher's system.

Causes of a bad part can vary from clogs formed by food particles or other debris, to mechanical failure of the pump motor itself.

Symptoms of a bad Drain Pump Assembly include:

  • Water not draining properly from the dishwasher
  • Unusual noises coming from the pump area
  • The dishwasher fails to start a wash cycle due to the system detecting water from a previous cycle still inside.

This OEM Frigidaire part can also be used on Electrolux, Frigidaire, Gibson, Kelvinator, Westinghouse, and Sears/Kenmore.

Manny, Test to see if there is 120 vac getting to the drain pump and if there is not then this will be a faulty control board.

Efrin, Either you have something clogged in your drain pipe or that drain pump is faulty. It is possible for the impeller to turn when there's no resistance but add water and the shaft turns and the impeller will not turn.

Rag, For this issue the drain pump will most likely be the cause for the unit to not drain all the water out. It could be a impeller on the drain that is the issue.

Andrew for Model Number FGBD2434PF1A

I replaced the pump motor a few months ago, because my dishwasher was not draining completely. This seemed to resolve the issue for a while. The issue started again a week ago, but if I start a cycle and immediately cancel a few times, the dishwasher empties itself. I can see water falling from the air gap into the disposal, so if the tubing or air gap is clogged, they aren't fully clogged. I also checked the check valve/flap in the bottom of the unit and removed the strainer in the bottom of the tub and found both to be clean and free of obstructions. I don't think a pump went bad in a few months. Could it be the water level sensor? Tonight the unit overflowed and came out on the floor. The area around that water level sensor seemed wet even though the plastic float inside the dishwasher raises and drops freely. Please advise

Andrew, If the unit overfilled then this will most likely be an issue with the water level switch assembly 154773201. For the drain issue you will want to check to make sure that there is nothing caught in the drain and may need to replace the drain hose if inside the pump is clear.

Larry, The "o" ring isn't listed as an individual part. You may want to remove the drain pump, check to make sure the ring didn't twist, get nicked or damaged, check the pump housing for cracks , check for debris in the opening etc. apply a light, thin coat of liquid detergent to the "o" ring and re install the drain pump. Last resort would be to replace the drain pump, or check with the local hardware store or automatine parts store for an identical "o" ring.

Joe, You will want to check for a power drop when the unit is going into the drain cycle. Check to make sure that there is nothing clogged in the drain pump or around the circulation pump. These would be the most common causes for this issue.
