How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP3791178 / 134365300 Inner Bellow Spring Clamp

Replaced the door bellows. The clamps and a tub filter. 

Inside bellow, Clamped spring at top, stretching spring to 8 o'clock and 4 o'clock and clamping. Stretch rest in place around the bottom. Outside bellows clamp is a wire with small spring, easily slips in place. 

I had ordered the parts after researching the problem on your website and watching the installation videos. Because the washer is 10 years old, and they had to be removed to install the boot seal, I ordered both the clamps, too. Ordering and shipping uneventful, which is what we like! Husband installed the parts in < 2hrs. I helped with the installation of the clamps (he has arthritis in his hands). Once done, I used the Affresh Washer Cleaner x 2. Not certain that it helped much. No leaks and the boot seal was much improved. Wish we'd replaced it long ago (and then we probably wouldn't have developed the leak). 

Ordered new spring clamps and that stopped the leak. The old spring clamps were rusted. The video really help to do it myself. 

Purchased the boot seal and both clamps. I put the seal in hot water for 20 minutes to make it more plyablee. Applied a little dish soap which made it easier to apply. The inner bellow spring clap was difficult but not impossible. Took about an hour for the repair. 

Remove the top cover. Then soap dispenser and front panel. Remove and replace Door Boot and Clamps. 

Used the video's for each of the parts and they where great!. The only video exception was the inner bellow spring, it is very hard to hold it in place and stretch it over bellow without it coming out. I had my brother help to hold as we installed. So video could add that additional hands would be helpful. Parts replaced include: Drive Belt, Tub to Pump hose, Door boot seal, Outer bellows clamp, Inner bellows spring, (2) suspension springs, (2) shock absorbers, and drain pump. 

Replaced the rubber gasket. 

Removed top to access screws to remove front panels. Removed the door switch. Those screws and the detergent tray screws are stainless steel. Make sure you use them when you reassemble it. Placed 2x4 under feet to access screws at bottom of the front panel, slid out the detergent tray(there is a push-button inside the tray at the end of it). Carefully removed the plastic control panel and laid it on top without disconnecting the wire. Removed remaining screws and bellows springs, and bellow. That was actually easy. I lubed the channel that clips over the lip and wiped off any exes. Starting at 12:00 position wiggled in place. That was easy once I got the technique down. I would have given the job a 1 rating as a challenge from 1 to 5 at this point, but here is where it gets hard. The tool included to hold the inner bellows spring in place while stretching it around the bellows must be made for a different model I needed a second pair of hands to stretch around. The part itself was a genuine Frigidaire replacement, though probably fits several models. 

My husband fixed it himself. It took several hours. It is doable with patience. I recommend watching the videos first. $200 for parts vs $1000 for a new machine.
