How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP6799886 / 5304518034 Defrost Timer

I replaced defrost timer. 

Replaced it with a new Defrost timer. 

The timer wasn't working to auto thaw the ice build up on the coils. Now that the timer is working properly, the coils don't freeze up and not freeze any more. 

I first replaced the defrost timer in the back of the freezer Then I replaced the defrost thermostat and the main thermostat! I set the defrost timer by turning the plastic screw until it clicked. Plugged in my freezer, set it back in its place, ran some errands for about 2 1/2 hours came home and my freezer was ready for the food that had been removed. Took about an hour or so but it was quiet simple. Cost me a lot less Without an appliance service charge! 

I bought 3 parts from AppliancePartsPros.com and replaced them. The prices were great. The parts received were genuine OEM. I cannot be happier. 

Changed the defrost control. 

Easily found the part at Appliance Parts Pros and these are the quickest shipping people I've ever seen it was here the next day. Put the timer on plugging them in works like a champ I will use these people for my appliance parts all the time. 

I found a forum that indicated this model of freezer was notorious for the temperature control thermostat going out. I followed the instructions and using a multimeter was able to determine the part was bad. It took about 30 minutes to remove the shelves and control panel cover, locate and disconnect the part and test. Before, disconnecting the part, take a picture of how the wires are connected for reference on the reinstall. The forum linked to the part. After reading the reviews, it seemed easy enough to replace. I ordered the temperature control thermostat (along with a defrost timer and defrost thermostat in case I had used the multimeter incorrectly). Ordered the parts on Sunday night. They shipped Monday. Arrived Tuesday. Replacing the part, replacing the control panel cover and replacing the shelves took maybe 30 minutes. Plugged the freezer in, set the temperature and the compressor started immediately. The parts and shipping cost less than a service call and the freezer was repaired three days before a service tech could come work on it. 

It took me 15 minutes to replace it. Save me a lot of $$ to not call the repairman. Thank you for the video to do it yourself.?? 

After using YouTube/Google to research the problem, I narrowed it down to the Defrost heater, decided to change the Defrost Thermostat at the same time because it was inexpensive and in the same vicinity as the heater, removed the panel for access, removed and replaced the heater element, found the thermostat had split in two, glad I decided to replace it as well, put it all back together and plugged it in. The freezer seemed to work, at least it was no longer tripping the GFCI, unfortunately, it would not shut off the compressor, more research found that the Defrost timer could be the culprit, changed it out, Freezer has worked flawlessly since, which is a good thing because there are none in the stores...Dang COVID.
