How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP7188100 / WR55X10942C Board Asm Main Control

Ordered and replaced Main Control Board. When appliance service said the board was ordered but had no promised date. AppliancePartsPros.com delivered it overnight, eliminating the need for another service call to be scheduled after the part arrived. Removing the board from its mounts was tricky but relatively easy when I determined how to release the mounts by squeezing them with needle nose pliers. After removing it, just had to exchange all the plug connectors. The new board's connectors were in slightly different locations, but easily figured out. After changing the board, everything worked, and the refrigerator cooled normally. 

New Main Control Board Asm. 

Replaced main control board. At $340 FOR THE PART, I WAS PRETTY NERVOUS ABOUT ATTEMPTING THIS. 

The lights in the fridge and freezer would work, but there was no cooling and the temperature selectors had no digital numbers showing. Replaced the motherboard and it works just like before. The replacement of the board was pretty easy and only took about 15 minutes. 

Checked the heater and replaced a defrost switch since it was easy and not expensive. Still had the issue. Traded a couple of emails with AppliancePartsPros.com and decided the next step was the Main Board. This resolved the issue. 

I ordered a Main Board Assembly. 

I replaced the Main Control Board Assembly. part No. WR55X10942C 

Installed a new circuit board. Powered right up and working fine. 

I ordered the Main Control Board and received it in a few days. I watched the "How-To" video on AppliancePartsPros.com website for replacing the Main Control Board. The installation took me about 15 minutes. My refrigerator is back up and running. Thank you!! 

I purchased a run capacitor and "Compressor start device" (relay) as well as a new main control board. Per the advice of the great folks at AppliancePartsPros, I replaced the two most likely culprits, the relay and capacitor. That did NOT fix the problem so I then installed the new main control board. And that fixed not only the cooling problem but the water and ice controls on the front of the freezer door! The fridge is running great again! Thank you!
