How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP7188100 / WR55X10942C Board Asm Main Control

A local appliance contractor told me that it would cost me around $500 to replace the control board. After I inquired online on how to fix the problem. l ordered the parts and fixed the issue myself. I saved myself about $150 dollars. It was an easy do-it-yourself repair. 

Changed out Main Control Board... 

Tested voltage on the motherboard and determined low voltage. Confirmed diagnosis with AppliancePartsPros online chat. Ordered a new board and overnight shipping. Replaced motherboard behind cover at the back of the refrigerator. Tools: 1/4” spin tight and needle-nose pliers. Easy job. Total time to replace the board - 30 minutes. 

Control board had “burn” damage around resistors and surface mount components that controls condenser and evaporator fans. Some capacitors also looked a little aged and swollen. Bad motors caused the control board to go bad. Replaced both the evaporator and condenser fan motors as well as the control board. 

This site is fabulous. Our refrigerator stopped working on Sunday. After a Google search and a few YouTube videos, we figured out the culprit and got the part number to order. No one locally had the part. I ordered online Monday at noon and it was here Tuesday at lunch. Easy replacement. Works like a charm. Called the help desk to find out we needed to mail our broken part back for a deposit return. The person on the phone was fabulous and talked me through the process to return. Simple procedure to get $55 back. Will definitely use them again. 

I read up on the problem on the web site and it all pointed to the master circuit board. I ordered a new one and replaced the old one. That fixed it.

Replaced with this control board and we are back up and running just in time for deer season. 

Replaced circuit board. One of the resistors had visible damage from overheat. Would have been, should have been, could have been, an easy fix except this household GE fridge is in an RV with no access to the back. It’s mounted about six inches above the floor so I had to make a platform for it to roll out on and had to place 36” long 1/8” steel plates under the front wheels so they would come out of a slot intended to keep the fridge in place. This the second board replacement in 12 months. Last year I thought I’d save money with an Amazon board. Wish I’d got one from AppliancePartsPros the first time! 

Front display went out one night between 3-7am. Had to put a thermometer inside to see if it was keeping temp. By the time I got home in the afternoon, the freezer was up to 20 deg already. After researching, I thought it was the display control module behind the front display. I saw it was an easy repair and called tech support to confirm part/model # and problem before ordering. After talking to tech support, they determined that if the refrigerator is not cycling, it is likely the main board in the back of the fridge. I ordered this part on Friday afternoon, same day it broke and received it on Sunday. It fixed the problem and it is running like new again. Great tech support here at appliance parts pros! Thanks!
