How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP7188100 / WR55X10942C Board Asm Main Control

We purchased a new GE mother board. 

We purchased a new GE Control Board. It was costly but way less than buying a new fridge, so we took the chance. The replacement was simple and the video provided by Appliance Parts Pros was extremely helpful. I watched the video at the time of purchase and again when installing. Very few tools were needed and everything installed as shown in the video. Taking a photo of the control board I was taking out helped and I did refer to it twice just to check. I was a little worried because the new control board was slightly different, but had the same connection points. This is our third appliance on which we replaced the main control board. It works well and significantly extends the life of appliances! 

I changed out the main board. I noticed there seemed to be a dimming of the night light and indicator lights on the dispenser panel when I pushed the paddle in to dispense ice. So some kind of power-related issue. I saw a reply on the forum that said this indicated the capacitors on the main board were the problem and you could replace the capacitors for $2. I ordered the capacitors from Amazon, but I could not risk this solution failing, or the possibility that I could damage the board in the process of trying to repair it, thus leaving my refrigerator permanently off and losing all the food. So I ordered the board just in case, knowing AppliancePartsPros would take it back. My soldering gun was too wimpy to melt the solder at all, so I had no choice but to go ahead and install the board. It restored full function. Cubes when I push the cubes button, crushed when crushed is selected. If you detect a power dimming as part of your symptoms, I would highly suspect the capacitor issue. Look at the top of the smaller 470uf capacitors. If they are bulged at all, this is your problem and you need to replace the main board. Incredibly expensive fix just to get ice to come out. But we were getting tired of opening the freezer, pulling out the ice tray, and grabbing ice by hand. 14 year old refrigerator. Hope nothing else fails too soon. 

Replaced the mother board and the touch pad on the freezer door. 

I followed the step by step instructions on the "how to" video on your web site. The amazing part of the repair was the incredible speed in which I received the replacement part. 

First tried replacing the temp sensor, but that did not work. I then replaced the control board with the help of the video tutorial. As soon as I got the old board out, I noticed a burn mark on the circuit board back. Then I was sure that this was going to be a success! Soon the refrigerator was at correct operating temp. The board was installed less than two days from ordering it - great service!
