How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP7188100 / WR55X10942C Board Asm Main Control

Worked with Mike B. from your support team to identify the controller board as the likely failed component. Ordered it on a Sunday, received it on Tuesday, replaced it. Problem resolved! We saved $1500 by not having to buy a new fridge. Great customer service and a great job by Mike. 

Replaced control board. 

Did some voltage and ohm's check at the board. Power coming in from house and nothing else. R2 board works as advertised. 

Replaced the control mother board with a new control board. I watched the video on Appliancepartspros.oom that showed how to accomplish the repair, then using the model number for the refrigerator I ordered the replacement mother board from Appliancepartspros.com. The repair was quick (15 minutes) and relatively easy. I needed two tools: a 1/4” nut driver and a pair of needle nose pliers. The nut driver was used to remove the control board cover panel on the back of the refrigerator, I took a picture of the original board to ensure I hooked up the new board the same way. The pliers were used to compress the plastic clips that hold the board in place. I removed the connectors from the old board and then connected them to the new board. I then snapped the board in place and replaced the cover, and plugged in the refrigerator. Repair complete and problem solved. 

Replaced the main control board. Personnel at the service center was great wouldn’t use anyone besides appliance parts pros for the help, they get me. 

I replaced the mother board and the water solenoids since they were part of the problem as well. 

Called appliance pro on my GE profile who had me test the heater. I defrosted the freezer to get to the heater which was good and also means its a problem with the motherboard. I ordered the motherboard part and replaced it. The freezer and the refrigerator were working perfectly after 2 hours ice and all. Thanks appliance pro I was able to cancel my sears appointment and saved probably $600 to $1000 !!! 

I ordered the main board from ApppliancePartsPros.com.. Wactched the video on their website and installed in less than 10 min. and frig. is working just fine now. 

After checking compressor per site videos, I verified that the compressor was not receiving electric power. I ordered the control board from ApplicancePartsPros.com and per the site video, it was extremely easy to replace. ENSURE that refrigerator is unplugged from power before starting the board replacement. The plug in white connectors that connect the various wiring harnesses to the board are easy to pull out with one little trick - using a small slotted screwdriver to gently pry back the white connector locking mechanism (only need to pry it about 1/16 inch). The new replacement board might look a little different (different layout of some components and some extra sockets that went unused in my replacement) but all of the board mounting holes line up with the plastic retaining studs that hold the board in place, and all the wiring harness connectors fit.
