How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP7188100 / WR55X10942C Board Asm Main Control

Pulled out old main control board, found a burnt mark on the back of circuit board indicating it was fried. Ordered a new main control board frm appliancepartspro, received in 2 days, 5 minutes to install and now refrigerator works like new. 

After a power failure the fridge would not start. Lights inside came on when door was opened. No lights were on at the door ice dispenser. I ordered a new mother board plus several other accessory parts just in case. When the new motherboard was installed the fridge worked perfectly. I saved the accessory parts just in case. 

We replaced the main control board located at the back of the refrigerator. The installation video was incredibly helpful and it only took us about 15 minutes to replace. Super easy fix and saved us a ton of money! 

GE Profile refrigerator stopped refrigeration and the display on the front panel. This is how temperature is controlled, thus the frig was essentially dead. However, the interior lights on both frig & freezer side still functioned. After some recent bad weather where electrical power had come off and on in my home, my refrigerator and freezer had stopped cooling. I first tried swapping out both relay switches to the compressor. This was not the problem. I then swapped out the mother board thinking perhaps my recent on/off with my electrical power caused damage to the mother board. This was indeed the solution to the problem. The only difficult part of the job was getting the old mother board released from the plastic tabs. Carefully squeezing the tabs with needle nose pliers and pulling the board off gently got the job done. I must say I am highly impressed with the videos on how to repair. I usually have the Midas touch in reverse when it comes to home repair, but Appliance Parts Pros saved me a $2000 expense for a new refrigerator. Thanks ! 

Replaced control board, all 100%. Vacuumed everything exterior while fridge was out. Also, cleaned inside fridge while it was down. Took 10 minutes to replace board, took 2.5 hours to clean inside fridge, 1st time in 8 years... ;( Cordless drill/driver quickens process.Used 1/4" and 5/16" nut driver bits... 

There's a decent amount of credible advice on troubleshooting refrigerator problems on the web, and after several unrelated sources suggested that the symptoms I was seeing were likely caused by a bad main control board and probably a freezer temperature sensor I decided to replace both. I think it's a good idea to avoid taking any single web site's advice if possible. The main control board was very easy to replace - just read the instructions carefully because some models require snipping a wire on one of the connectors and also one on a connector down near the compressor. The sensor was a bit tricky to replace because once you cut the old sensor off you don't have a lot of wire to work with - maybe 2". Be prepared with some small butt connectors, the size I used was for #22 - #16 wire. Also, one tab on the plastic sensor cover broke when I was removing it, so if you're a perfectionist you might try removing that before placing your order. My time estimate includes web research and troubleshooting - installation time was about 25 minutes. 

Wife tried replacing relay that past experience had worked for her on a different refrigerator. Did not solve the problem. Did some research which suggested mother board was probably the issue. Removed mother board and found burn connection. Ordered replacement board. Arrived quickly and installation was easy. Vacuumed out underside and refrigerator started right up.. 

REPLACED THE MAIN CONTROL BOARD. FIX EVERYTHING. 

I had replaced the thermostat and one sensor in freezer which was the cheapest way to try and fix it but nothing changed finally reading some more I did chat with an associate with AppliancePartsPros.com and the associate told me before I bought the main control board check out one more part which was about 11.99 so I did try and that part was good. So I did buy the main control board and wa-la the compressor kicked in and my refrigerator and freezer started and still does work like a champ.
