How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP7188100 / WR55X10942C Board Asm Main Control

We had a power outage at the house, and after the power came back on, we noticed that the green lights on the control panel above the dispenser were not working. An the cooling wasn't active anymore even though the lights in the fridge and freezer would come on when you opened the door. Power wasn't getting to the dispenser board, so I replaced the main control board in the back of the unit. Fairly easy job, although I did have to cut a splice the ground wire connection on the new board with the old board's connector. 

I changed the mother board. 

Very, very easy to install control board. Fridge operates perfectly now. 

Ordered a new main board and got it within 1 day which allowed me to replace the old one over the weekend. Took not even 30 minutes get it done. Part came with great instructions and works as far as I can tell so far. The work itself consists of locating the main board, unscrewing the nuts holding the cover in place and then unplugging the old board and plug the new one in. To make sure I don't miss anything I numbered the plugs and sockets, drew a rough sketch of the location of each on a piece of paper while also writing the number on the corresponding plug. Needless to say, I will order here again. 

Thermistor(white tube, black sealant, round nose) did not fix the problem. Removed mother board and found large black spot at one relay, replaced board, took about 20 minutes and the fridge is running better than ever, actually turned the controls down because it was getting too cold, now stabilized. 

I had friends that took it apart and found that the motherboard needed replacing. We googled the make and model number and found the replacement part. Ordered the part, and when it came in, replaced the part. Working like a charm. I was so afraid that I was going to have to replace the refrigerator. We had just come through hurricane Matthew. I knew it was something to do with the power surges during that time. I had lost power for 5 days during the storm. 

Refrigerator suddenly stopped cooling, lost food. Troubleshoot, and all pointed to motherboard. A detailed check of joints found a cold-solder joint with a small burn spot. Ordered new motherboard from AppliancePartsPros and had it in my hands 43 hours later. Took about 15 minutes to make the swap and install. Plugged in and turned on and the compressor came alive again, a sweet sound. These guys are AWESOME!! KUDOS! 

Used your website to troubleshoot possible issues and decided to replace the control board since nothing except the lights inside (not the control lights) were working. 

Did a quick google and found that most people said the motherboard needed to be replaces. Ordered one and replaced it. Now all is good, Frig is back up and running!! 

I purchased the recommended parts, control board, 2 sensors only needed 1, 2 heating elements only needed 1, defrost thermostat. I also replaced the door water & ice kit. Runs like new!
