I purchased my house 5 years ago with a 25 year old oven that did not heat up to the set temperature. We have been using it as is for 5 years adjusting the oven setting to higher temperatures to compensate. A couple of weeks ago, the oven stopped reaching usable temperatures and this can cause safety issues when baking chicken, pork, turkey. My wife tried to bake a cake and the cake never rose since the oven would not reach the correct temperatures. I ordered both the broiling element and the baking element and watched videos on how to replace them. It looked really simple. When the new elements arrived, I replaced both of them and it was as simple as the videos made it seem. I purchased an oven thermometer to verify functionality. I set the over to turn on to 450 degrees and within 5 minutes, the oven had reached exactly 450 and the elements were cycling on and off to maintain the correct temperature. My wife and daughter-in-law baked chicken and lasagna the same day and they were happy to be able to bake successfully again. I am very happy that the repair was simple, fast, and inexpensive. This was on a built-in oven so it would have been a lot more expensive to replace the oven or have a repair person come out.
