John K West Jefferson , OH August 23, 2015 Timer knob broken The timer knob on our GE dryer cracked. We used pliers to set it after that, this was a terrible idea. Soon the stem on the timer was destroyed and now I had to replace it too. I waited too long originally, but I've I decided to fix it, the problem wasn't too bad. I was able to order the parts I needed in about 10 minutes and they were in my mailbox in about 3 days. In about a half hour my dryer was fixed and put back together. I regret not doing it earlier, but was fortunate to still be able to fix everything quickly, affordably, and on my own. I'd say the cost of my repair was less than the service call alone. This was a great experience. Oh....take some quick pictures of the things you disassemble to help you put things back together. Douglas K Winchester , VA November 29, 2014 The rotary start switch was malfunctioning and the securing bracket and knob were broken I removed the back splash that held the three operating switches. I then removed the rotary switch from the back of the panel and installed the new one. Since one side of the plastic hold down leg was broken off (area that holds the switch to the back of the back splash panel) I made a metal bracket to hold the switch in place. This saved me $60.00 for the price of a new panel. I believe the panel should have had a metal backing like the one in the video that shows you how to take the switch out. Apparently some of the GE models have them. Any way, the parts that I ordered from Appliance Parts Pros. fit perfectly and arrived a lot sooner than I anticipated. Camille K Alameda , CA June 15, 2019 Dryer timer knob would not turn With the help of the instructional video, my husband was able to replace broken timer mechanism in about 20 minutes. The hardest part was accessing the 3 screws in the back of the machine. Not a lot of space to pull the dryer away from the wall. Fortunately we have a pair of very short screw drivers that fit in the limited space behind the dryer. Works fine now.
