Julio D Auburn Hills , MI January 19, 2019 Dryer timer was broken I purchased the replacement timer. I took off knob on front of dryer. I then removed 6 screws from back of dryer and took off small panel. Removed broken timer which is held in small slots (timer twists out). Installed new timer in slots. Then removed and connected about 7 wires one at a time to matching location on new timer. Replaced panel on back of dryer and reinstalled knob on front. Took about 15-20 minutes and saved about $150 by DIY repair. Works perfect. John K Pasadena , MD August 26, 2016 Appliance: General Electric General Electric GTDX100EM1WW The dryer timer was getting tight to turn and it forced the knob to break where it attached to the timer I removed the broken knob by pulling straight out and threw it in the trash. I removed screws along the rear and top of the backsplash. Tilted it forward and removed the timer. You must be careful because the backsplash is made of plastic. The old timer had 2 screws holding a wiring harness that was not needed and was thrown in the trash too. The new timer had a small hole that matched another hole in the backsplash. I used the old screw to help hold the new timer in place. I changed the wires, one at a time from the old timer to the new timer. I tilted the backsplash back and installed the screws on the rear top of backsplash. Plugged the new knob on the front by pushing it on the shaft. I plugged the electric plug in and tested it out. Perfect DIY job. Saving money for the things I can't find time to do. Every little bit helps.
