How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2047302 / WH43X139 Fabric Softener Dispenser

Replaced it with a new agitator kit. 

I got a new washer 7 years ago and it dis not have a liquid fabric softener dispenser. I tried using the Downey ball, but the ball didnt properly dispense it either. Over the years, I asked appliance repair people about finding a converter, but they were all clueless, until the man, Randy Cook told me to try going online and googling it. I found this site, and I found the cap but not the converter. I perused the notes on the page and saw how a customer asked for help and the CSR placed a hyperlink to the part I needed. I ordered it and when it came in the mail, I took off the cap and popped the fabric softener dispenser into place and I have been in ZEN ever since with soft, clean, good smellinng clothes. Thank you! 

AppliancePartsPros sold me a new agitator. The agitator and agitator coupler have plastic splines and they get worn over time. I originally thought that metal splines would last longer, but if something in the washer tub gets tangled around the agitator, if the machine had metal splines then the transmission under the agitator would be ruined prematurely. It will wear out soon also but not right now. If you don't replace the coupler and agitator when they begin to wobble and rumble then the splines will strip and then you can order the parts in a hurry. I try to stay up with my to do list. It helps if you are the one who does some washing of clothes. Our wives may not tell us about a wobble. They will tell that the washer doesn't work. 

Knew I couldn't get a repair person til Monday, ordered parts on Saturday afternoon. Parts arrived Monday afternoon. Fixed it myself & washer up running within 15 minutes of delivery of parts! 

Took me 15 minutes from the time the parts arrived until I was done installing them . 

A very simple fix. I removed the old agitator, removed the bolt in the top of the coupler and removed the old coupler. I slid the new coupler into place and attached it with the bolt. Then slid the new agitator onto the coupler until I heard it snap into place. Took about 10 minutes. 

We ordered a new Agitator, a Coupler Kit and the Fabric Softener Dispenser. 

Removed three 1/4" hex head screws from the back panel, tilted it toward the front of the machine, and slid it to the right to remove the upper front panel. Two 1/4" hex head screws and the wire clip holding the fill tube. Carefully remove fill tube from water valve. Then reverse the procedure. The control assembly had 5/16" hex head screws, three for the dials and a nylon bracket aligning the left side of the control arm and the right side with two 5/16" hex head screws with four plug-ins. The fifth plug-in with the wire loop on the top has to be used from the replaced assembly, being careful not to bend the pins. The control assembly needs to have the dial controls inserted into the assembly when reinstalling the board. Patience. 

Parts fit perfectly. 

First read about how the washing machine works, then watched some repair videos on youtube. Browsing along stumbled on Appliance Parts Pros.Com, watched some repair videos concerning problems. I then sent a detailed e-mail to customer service/Technician explaining problems, and within two hours received a reply addressing the issue.,. as isolating the main problem is a primary concern. Noise can be due to several reasons.,then called Tech help, explained issue, cross-referenced parts with make and model number.,then placed an order online at 2:45 pm opting for two-day shipping. The items were delivered the next day by 11 am by FedEx., really fast and prompt..On Sunday 03/28/21 completed replacing parts, and tested machine.,works like new. The website is well-organized explaining in detail the parts, cross reference parts, compatibility, and above all repair videos and tools needed. The customer service and tech help- excellent. The company shipped original parts. the pricing is reasonable and very courteous personal. Surely will recommend the site to anyone interested in repairing household appliances.
